Euro Tour 2017 - Let’s talk about playing time!

The Dutch know how to develop soccer talent.  Volendam a village of 22,000 people is doing it better than most and I’m not just talking about soccer talent. 

Well known musicians, entrepreneurs, and artists have all come from this small town.  Their local club FC Volendam is part of this tradition. They are developing outstanding youth talent. 

What does this have to do with playing time?

Over the course of a year every player in their youth academy gets 50% playing time. Not only that, if you don’t start one game you start the next match. This continues until U17. 

Of course every player has to come to training and work hard. But as long as those things happen the players play. 

They believe this is a big reason for their success.
